Only Flowers Grow In Dirt

Hi, my name is Victoria and I have been running Only Flowers Grow in Dirt since 2019. I provide outdoor nature play sessions for children around Cardiff parks and woodlands. I am also a health visitor, mum of six and love the outdoors. Childhood has changed and activities like playing with mud in the 21st century appears to be fading away. Due to technology, concern of child safety and time pressures children are spending much more time indoors.

My aim is to get children outdoors exploring, giving them the freedom to shout, run, play in the mud and dance in the rain.

There are heaps of benefits of getting children outdoors:

•Improved sleep
•Emotional well-being, less prone to anxiety and stress
•Improved diet
•Vitamin D
•Creativity and Imagination
•Social skills
•Health
•Environmentally aware adults
•Independence
•Opportunities for conversation and enhancing communication
•Motor skills and broad sensory activity, allowing them to taste, feel, hear, touch and smell the environment around them

My sessions have various themes from Stuck in the Mud, Dino Stomp and Music in Nature to name a few. They are a huge success with parents, and children absolutely love the sessions. Sessions run for an hour and cost £6.50 per child. I can also undertake a workshop at a school/nursery setting or meet at a local park or woods. My sessions are fully inclusive and welcome children of all stages of development and encourage children with additional needs to attend. I also feel passionate about the sharing of different languages - the sessions provide the perfect opportunity to develop further- childrens brains are like sponges! being bilingual provides so many opportunities.

I am DBS checked, have public liability insurance and all risk assessments have been completed.
